CNA Certification In South Dakota

All aspiring candidates must fulfill the following requirements to obtain CNA certification in SD:

• You must be 18 years of age or above.
• Complete CNA Program of at least 75 hours which must include both classroom lectures and clinical hands-on practice.
• Pass both the parts, i.e., written exam and clinical test of the competency examination.
• Pass a background check conducted by the South Dakota and the federal government.
• Submit your fingerprints to the state and federal government.
• Submit immunization records.
• Must possess a negative TB test done within the past 6 months.

If you have never held CNA license in SD, follow the below-given procedure:

Step 1 – The initial step is to register for the CNA certification exam. After completing the program, you may register to take the test.

Step 2 – Prepare for and take the CNA certification exam.

Step 3 – Pass both the sections of the exam. After passing the test, your name will be registered with the SD Nurse Aide Registry.

All certified nursing assistants working in SD are required to renew their licensure every 2 years. Candidates are required to submit verification of successful completion of at least 8 hours of employment as a CNA during the renewal period of 2 years.
